Last year, Altman and Mulherin, an Australian software engineer formerly at Meta, made one of their first public appearances together at a White House dinner honouring Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During an interview with New York Magazine in September 2023, the couple revealed their desire to start a family in the near future.

A “striptease” was performed in front of children at a seaside town’s Pride beauty pageant and it has sparked outrage.
A video posted on social media shows a Pride beauty contestant dancing while simulating a sexual act on a cane in front of a group of minors at the Pride event in Margate, England.
The crowd can be heard cheering as the performer dropped their trousers and danced around in a bra and underwear to the song Pony, by Ginuwine, featuring the lyrics: “If you’re horny let’s do it. Ride it, my pony. My saddle’s waiting. Come and jump on it”.
The festival took place in Kent on Aug 12 but the video was just shared on X on Wednesday, Jan. 10. The footage shows little girls and boys watching the display.
It is believed the event was part of an all-day contest in which contestants vie for the title of Mx Margate. Applications from “all genders, ages, races, LGBTQIA+ people, long-term Thanet residents and those with disabilities” are encouraged, according to the Margate Pride website.
The event was hosted by Jonny Woo, a British comedian, and judged by artist Tracey Emin, actor Russell Tovey and Robert Diament, the director of the Margate-based Carl Freedman Gallery.
The competition’s rule book states that “obscenity, indecent exposure or sexual acts” by participants in public are prohibited.
Campaigners said the “sexualised adult entertainment act” should not have been performed in front of children.
Kellie-Jay Keen, the founder of Standing for Women, said: “When it comes to the protection and safeguarding of children and the vulnerable, we should have learned by now that groups such as Pride, Stonewall, Mermaids, Educate and Celebrate, No Outsiders, any organisation set up around the sexuality and made-up identities of individuals, cannot be trusted.
“At this point, we have to ask, where were the parents? And what sort of parents sit their children in front of a sexually explicit adult entertainer? This person performed a striptease and simulated performing fellatio on a wooden walking stick. If this sexualised adult entertainment act belongs anywhere at all, it belongs in a nightclub.
“You have to be completely stupid to ever let your children anywhere near any of these events.”

A woman in Australia is fortunate to be alive after being bitten by a venomous snake while she slept in her bed.
The unnamed woman in her 20s has been airlifted to hospital following the attack from an eastern brown, the world’s second-most venomous snake, at her remote home in the Western Downs region in Queensland’s south-east.
The woman was bitten on the hand around 1am on Friday, January 12. Reports stated that she was initially treated by her family before paramedics arrived.
After a dose of anti-venom, the woman was then flown to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition by the RACQ LifeFlight helicopter.
The young woman managed to snap a picture of the intruder poking its head out from beneath her blanket.
7News in Australia reports that she remains in a stable condition.
Darling Downs Health, which runs Toowoomba hospital, said: “The patient remains in a serious but stable condition.”
Tim Hudson, of Queensland-based Hudson Snake Catching, said bites are usually painless because of the snake’s small fangs.
“It’s certainly possible that people can get bitten and not realise,” Hudson said.
“This snake quite likely would have come in during the day when it was hot yesterday and I suspect … could have been in the house overnight.”

More details about the banker who was found dead in the restroom at her workplace after consuming insecticide have emerged.
32-year-old Amarachi Ugochukwu was found dead on Monday, Jan. 8, within the premises of a bank in Ikorodu where she worked.
Around 1pm, she made her way into the restroom, where she was said to have drunk the insecticide, unknown to her colleagues.
A suicide note was found beside her body. In it, she complained about the economic hardship in the country.
Following her death, many have gone online to mourn her.
While expressing sadness over the incident, a Facebook user, Folusho Adebisi, claimed the late female banker combined multiple jobs to survive.
While describing her as friendly and hardworking, Adebisi wrote that aside from her banking job, the deceased also engaged in shoemaking.
He recalled how his son, Tiwalade, patronised her footwear and how he had personally met her on a few occasions.
He wrote, “Tiwalade, my son, woke me up this morning to the terrible news trending online about a young lady, Amarachi Ugochukwu, a banker committing suicide. Amarachi was a friend of Tiwalade and a customer of his business, Donetsk Footwear Limited. I had met Amarachi on a few occasions when she came for deliveries at Donetsk Footwear during the festivities.
“Amarachi was a young lady, friendly, amiable and hardworking, a lady cobbler that combined her stressful job of a banker with another stressful business of shoemaking and marketing. I read she left a suicide note complaining of a hard life, hard economy etc.”
The suicide note found beside Amarachi’s body reads, “Nothing is working in my life. My figures are low. My brain is clogged up. The economy is getting harder. My decisions are wrong. My mind is messed up. The future doesn’t seem bright at all. I see extreme hardship. I can’t bear the pain anymore,” she wrote in the suicide note.
Ugochukwu apologised to her parents and other members of her family in the suicide note.
“I’m sorry mum, I’m sorry dad, I’m sorry Nene, Okwe, Toto, Nazor, Chuchu, Ifunanya,” she added.

She concluded by writing, “Dear Lord, have mercy on me!”
Amarachi’s body was removed by the police and deposited at the Ikorodu General Hospital for autopsy.
